Even with a shorter week due to the Easter break, the EU institutions didn’t slow down, quite the opposite! From the public procurement report to the urban wastewater treatment directive, the policy eggs kept hatching at full speed. At FEAD, we were busy hatching our own eggs: 10 policy recommendations for the upcoming Circular Economy Act. Read them now! 


Circular Economy Act (CEA) – FEAD Policy recommendations: FEAD has published its 10 key policy recommendations for the upcoming Circular Economy Act. These proposals aim to make the legislation robust and actionable by addressing persistent market failures, boosting demand for recycled materials, ensuring fair competition, and reinforcing implementation across the EU.

Informal meeting of the EU Ministers for Environment and Climate (ENVI): On 28-29 April, an Informal meeting of EU Ministers for Environment and Climate (ENVI) will take place in Warsaw, Poland. 

Public procurement report – European Parliament: The ITRE Committee has submitted amendments to the Parliament’s own initiative report on public procurement. Find them herehere and here

Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive: On 22 April, the action brought on 10 March 2025 by Poland against the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, asking for the annulment of Article 9 of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, was published in the Official Journal of the EU. 

Country profiles on municipal and packaging waste management – EEA: On 23 April, the European Environment Agency published individual country profiles on municipal and packaging waste management for EU Member States. 

Electrification Action Plan: The European Commission has published a public consultation that will be opened during the second quarter of 2025 on the Electrification Action Plan.

Circular Economy Act – Zero Waste Europe Policy recommendations: On 23 April, Zero Waste Europe published its proposals for a Circular Economy Act. 

Long-term budget for the Union: On 23 April, the Committee on Budget voted in favour of the motion of a revamped long-term budget for the Union in a changing world.
