Forgotten plastics
Forgotten Plastics is an initiative of FEAD to put the focus on the non-household waste streams and address specifically the collection and recycling of plastic packaging from the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sectors. It is part of our Circular Economy Value Chain Partnerships.
In the discussion on the increase of plastic recycling rates and the uptake of secondary raw materials to contribute to the circular economy transition, non-household end-use plastics seem to be forgotten in policy and data-gathering, even though they have promising potential for high quality recycling. FEAD has initiated the Forgotten Plastics project to put the focus on the Commercial & Industrial plastic packaging and support its potential for the circular economy.
This project is an invitation to all value chain stakeholders to exchange, collaborate, and work together towards a common Action Plan, aimed to effectively close the loop of C&I plastic packaging by taking common actions to increase and improve the separate collection, recycling, and uptake of recycled material.
