ERC 2023 is happening in Brussels, the heart of the European Union! 

Our member DENUO, the Belgian waste management and recycling federation, together with EuRIC, is shining a spotlight on car recycling. Why? Well, the automotive industry is going through a major revolution. By 2035, which is practically tomorrow in terms of industrial value chains, combustion engine vehicles will be phased out and replaced by electric vehicles (EVs). This transition will have a significant impact on all the players involved, considering that the industry provides 12.6 million direct and indirect jobs in the EU. Recycling is no exception.

Cars are composed of various materials like steel, aluminum, plastics, critical materials, rubber, and textiles, among others. The revision of the ELV Directive into a Regulation is just the beginning! This move is expected to attract substantial investments needed to ensure that the EU maintains its leadership in car recycling.
